Associate Intellectual Property Attorney
Schmeiser, Olsen & Watts recognizes that its continuous growth and success is directly linked to the caliber and diversity of our associates. We understand that high quality results can only be achieved by supporting the development of our intellectual property attorneys. Thus, Schmeiser, Olsen & Watts is committed to increasing the skills, experience, and knowledge base of its associates. Our goal is to ready all associates for becoming future partners of the firm. Associates are given the opportunity to handle sophisticated work and client responsibilities early in their career. We welcome resumes from exceptional attorneys and recent law school graduates who have an undergraduate degree in biology, chemistry, physics, engineering, or other scientific or technical disciplines and are interested in growing with us.
In order to fully meet the needs of our clients and provide them with the high quality of service that they've grown to expect, Schmeiser, Olsen & Watts enlists the services of skilled Technical Advisors. Our Technical Advisors are exposed to a wide array of activities as they assist intellectual property attorneys in patent procurement, prosecution and litigation. Qualified applicants will hold a Masters or Bachelors degree in one of the sciences, engineering, or technically related disciplines. A desire to attend law school is preferred, but not required. Additionally, the ability to sit for and pass the United States Patent and Trademark Office exam is strongly recommended.
Schmeiser, Olsen & Watts periodically recruits exceptional individuals while they are attending law school. They must possess undergraduate degrees in science or engineering and have an interest in eventually becoming patent attorneys. A flexible part-time schedule is available during the school year. Our law clerks are generally trained in the area of patent procurement, but may also gain experience in other aspects of the practice, including certain aspects of litigation. Competitive candidates will have advanced degrees in science or engineering and be enrolled in a local law school.
Schmeiser, Olsen & Watts offers its paralegals competitive salaries as well as excellent benefits. Paralegals work closely with attorneys and are encouraged to assume responsibility as it relates to the cases on which they are working. They are required to be well organized, highly motivated, and possess extensive experience in or a strong desire to work in the practice of intellectual property law.
