Summer Associate Program at Schmeiser, Olsen & Watts Intellectual Property Law Firm

Many of Schmeiser, Olsen & Watts' new associates come from the Summer Associate Program. Therefore, the Summer Associate Program immerses students in all aspects of our intellectual property law firm's culture in an effort to provide a realistic view of life at the firm. Second year law students and exceptionally talented first year law students are provided work experiences similar to that done by our first year associates. Program participants are paired with mentor attorneys, who guide and direct them throughout their summer employment activities. Summer associates can expect direct interaction with all of the firm's attorneys when fulfilling their assignments.

Summer associates are encouraged to take responsibility in as many of the following practice areas as possible: Domestic and Foreign Patent, Trademark, and Copyright filings; Intellectual Property Litigation and other types of adversarial proceedings; and Licensing and Business Transactions. Projects assigned to Summer Associates are coordinated to ensure that each associate is exposed to a variety of projects during the summer.
