Professional Experience

Raman, a registered patent attorney, is a  Senior Associate of Schmeiser, Olsen and Watts LLP.  His practice includes patent prosecution, counseling, and litigation in the electronic/software arts.  Raman also has experience with trademark prosecution, counseling, and litigation and copyright counseling.  Raman’s patent prosecution and counseling experience includes portfolio/docket management, drafting patent applications, responding to office actions, counseling clients on patentability and freedom to operate, and performing IP due diligence for corporate transactions.

In addition to his patent prosecution experience, Raman has developed patent litigation experience including drafting pleadings, claim construction briefs, summary judgment motions, and appeal briefs, preparing witnesses and defending depositions, working with and defending expert witnesses, managing discovery, and drafting and reviewing settlement agreements.

Raman further possesses strong technical experience involving wireless telecommunication systems, medical devices including surgical devices and ultrasound systems, virtual machine platforms, mobile and wireless applications, software testing, web security, storage and networking devices, semiconductor design/manufacturing, RF design, and solar technologies.

Raman earned his J.D. from the University of New Hampshire School of Law (Formerly Franklin Pierce Law Center), 2008 (Moot Court Board).  He also holds a LL.M. (Intellectual Property), University of New Hampshire School of Law (Formerly Franklin Pierce Law Center), 2008., and a B.S. in Systems and Control Engineering from Case Western Reserve University (Dept. of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science), 2003 (First Place Senior Project).  Raman is admitted to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, U.S. District Court, District of Massachusetts, Massachusetts State Bar, and the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
