Looking for the next Edison

Times Union Employees from the Latham intellectual property law firm Schmeiser, Olsen & Watts LLP have been hitting the road to develop the next generation of inventors in the Capital Region. Jon Skelly, a patent agent at the firm, and Irene Lippa, an attorney at the firm, have visited local elementary and middle schools to encourage students to participate in the Capital District Regional Invention Convention. Hundreds of local students have already submitted invention ideas, and a dinner and awards ceremony is being held in June for the 20 finalists. The Web site for the convention is
