Lori Cuomo serves as a Senior Patent Attorney in Washington DC at the IP law office of Schmeiser, Olsen & Watts. Her areas of practice consist of patents, trademarks, copyrights, licensing, international IP, and litigation. Lori specializes in various technical areas including biotechnology, mechanical, clean energy, nanotechnology, chemical, and materials processing & semiconductor fabrication.
Lori previously worked as Of Counsel at a Washington DC area law boutique, mainly focusing on patent prosecution and preparation of opinions relating to non-infringement and invalidity of patents. Lori also formerly worked as a patent attorney for Mobil Oil Corporation with her responsibilities entailing US and foreign patent procurement, opinion work, client counseling, and agreement work in a wide variety of inorganic and organic chemical arts. These includes oil field and enhanced recovery operations, catalyst technology, lubricants, films, and polymers. In addition, Lori previously served as an Examiner at the US Patent and Trademark Office in a variety of arts, including gas purification and inorganic silicon compounds.
Lori received her undergraduate degree from Worcester Polytechnic Institute, with a degree in Chemical Engineering, as well as receiving a masters in Engineering Management from the Catholic University of America. Lori received her Juris Doctor from The Columbus School of Law. In addition, Lori maintains bar admissions with the District of Columbia Bar and the US Patent and Trademark Office.
