Upon graduating from the University of Maryland in 1989 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mr. Stavish joined the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) as a Patent Examiner. In 1992, Mr. Stavish passed the Registration Examination to Practice before the USPTO and worked as a Patent Agent while attending law school.
Upon graduation from the American University College of Law in Washington, and passing the Maryland State Bar Exam in 1996, Mr. Stavish worked as a Patent Attorney in Washington DC at several prominent law firms.
Mr. Stavish has more than 25 years of experience in all aspects of intellectual property law, including patent infringement litigation and appeals, trademark and patent prosecution, including oppositions, cancellations, interferences, reexaminations and other post grant proceedings.
Mr. Stavish also prepared thousands of prospective Patent Attorneys and Patent Agents for the Patent Bar Exam while working as an instructor for the Practicing Law Institute (PLI) Patent Bar Review Course.
